Purrfect Box Review

Anyone who knows me well will know that I have two beautiful cats who I love to death! I have seen YouTubers review Bark Boxes and was curious to see if they did a Cat Box in the UK. I came across Purrfect Box on Twitter and had to order one!

The Purrfect Boxes work in the same way as a monthly beauty box subscription, you can pay for your box monthly or buy a whole year and get a slightly discounted price. At the moment they are doing an offer where you can get your first Purrfect Box for free, all you need to do is pay for the postage which is only £2.90. I thought this was a great idea so ordered mine straight away!

When you order your first Purrfect Box you are asked to set up your cats profile, this is so that they can send the right type of products to you. They ask your cats name, breed, size and age. If you have multiple cats you can update your profile each month to get a different box for each cat. I put in the details for my youngest cat Poppy because she's a bit more playful an active them my older cat Jet.

The box arrived on the 23rd of the month (delivery time is anytime between 20th-25th via Royal Mail) and it came in a hard to miss bright pink package! I think the contents must have had an interested small because Poppy followed me when I went to open the box.

Inside was a mixture of toys, treats and some relaxing catnip spray. I think 6 full sized products is very good value for money, especially as they all seem very good quality. Poppy was instantly impressed with the purple knot toy which has a strong scent which is similar to cat nip.

The two packets of treats also seemed to go down well, they weren't from brands I've ever bought before so it was nice for both my cats to give them a try.

Poppy may look quite big but she is still a kitten and only around 7 months old so having all the toys really keeps her occupied when I'm out the house at work.

Everything in the box has been played with and used by both my cats so overall I am very impressed with he box and it's contents. It is definitely something I would recommend if you have cats.

You can find more details about Purrfect Box on their website - or follow them on twitter to see many more customer reviews.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Review

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush's have been raved about by every blogger and YouTuber ever since they launched. I bought myself the Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow about a year ago now and love using it. The blushes are very finely milled so leave a flawless finish on your skin, they're also packed with shimmer which leaves your skin glowing without looking sparkly.

I was browsing the makeup on John Lewis when I saw that they had just started stocking the Ambient Lighting Blush Palette. This beautiful palette contains three of the blush shades; Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure. And as soon as I saw it I added it to my basket and picked it up the next day from my local Waitrose.

Now Hourglass products are not cheap at all is this palette cost £52.00, probably not something I should have ordered without thinking but to late now. Having already bought a blush from this range before I knew what to expect from the quality of the product.

The blush shades in this palette look incredible in the pan with their distinctive swirled marble effect. However I was a bit disappointed with the size of the blushes, I was expecting the blushes to be the same size as my individual blush, which they aren't, in fact they are quite a bit smaller. This isn't too big of an issue because it means the palette is smaller to travel with.

The shade range in this trio palette is really nice and each blush gives a very different finish.

Luminous Flush - dark rose pink swirled with a bronze highlighter

Incandescent Electra - hot red/pink swirled with a golden highlighter

Mood Exposure - dark, browny pink swirled with a light bronze highlighter

Nails Inc - Snowflake Whitechapel

Now this may be very out of season to be wearing a christmas nail polish in July but I managed to get this Nails Inc polish at an amazing price in the Beauty Bag sale. Normally £16.99 I managed to snag this for only £2.40 which is not bad going!

The nail polish itself is clear with white spots and silver flexes of glitter. Photographed is one layer of the polish but I think this will build well to create a more dense glitter. This will also look great layered on top of a coloured base. I think I will be getting a lot of wear out of this come winter time and it seems to have a good chip resistant formula.

Cookie Bake Dessert

Create an incredibly delicious and delectable dessert which will wow your taste buds. This simple recipe will take less then 10 minutes and it'll be better then anything you can get at a restaurant. Making a pudding in individual dishes looks sophisticated at any dinner party.

2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp golden syrup
2 tbsp plain flour
1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/4 tsp course sea salt
A handful of dark chocolate chips

Place butter, sugar and golden syrup into a oven proof dish. I have this skillet from Waitrose which is the perfect size for one person.

Place ingredients in the oven at 180C for 1 minute or until the butter has melted.

Add in the dry ingredients and the vanilla essence.

Stir until mixture is smooth with no lumps. Flatten off the top to give and even layer of mixture.

Sprinkle on the chocolate chips trying to distribute them as evenly as possible. Place back in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes depending on how deep your dish is, until the top is golden brown but the centre is still sort.

Leave the cookie to stand for a couple of minutes to give it a chance to firm up a little, then top with a scoop of ice cream of freshly whipped cream.

You can make this recipe vegan by swapping the butter for coconut oil and the chocolate chips for cacao nibs. Both ways taste great and you'll still get the soft gooey centre!

Soap and Glory Haul

So I finally gave in and bought myself some Soap and Glory make up products. Soap and Glory was on a three for two offer in Boots so then was no better opportunity. Having heard and read so many reviews from fellow bloggers and YouTubers I was pretty confident in which products I should pick.

Of course I had to give the Solar Powder Bronzer a go as what feels like every blogger has recommended it at some point. I also picked up the Glow All Out highlighter because it looked like the perfect summer shade.

This highlighter has a lovely light pink shimmery colour which is perfect for adding a hint of tint to the cheeks and top of the cheekbones. The powder left my skin with a healthy glowing from within finish which looked great during the day. The product lasted well on my cheeks and didn't cake up when reapplied later in the day.

This was the product I was really looking forward to trying out. The half and half bronzer makes it easy to add depth and dimension to your cheekbones. The darker side is matt which makes it great for contouring cheek bones while the paler side has a hint of shimmer which is great for all over the face.  I found this product really lovely to use and both sides were easy to build up to create a more dramatic contour.

One down side to this product is the packaging the cardboard finish I think cheapens the product a little, but the good news is I think they have now changed the packaging to match that of the other highlighters and blushes!

Another blogger recommended must have is the Archery 2-in1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush. Commonly recommended as a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz this costs a fraction of the price at just £8.00 (but I got for free in the 3 for 2). The pencil comes with a super skinny pencil nib which gives you maximum control when applying.

Having given the pencil a go it is a great buildable product which makes shaping brows easy. The Blondeshell shade is also perfect for my skin tone and hair colour. However I have to say it does take a while to get enough product out to fill in your brows completely. I found the product to have quite a hard consistency so I had to press quite firmly for the product to work.

My Little Road Trip Box

This months theme is all about travel and taking the time out to explore. The box came with it's usual combination of My Little World booklet, 2 lifestyle bits and a selection of beauty bits.
My Little World features an interview from globetrotter Lily Rose, as well as some interesting beauty articles and even a word search.
A sweet little item is the ready-to-send notebook. This is a new and creative spin on the classic postcard. Instead of sending your loved one a one sided postcard you can now send them a little notebook, meaning you can share all of your amazing stories. I think this is a really great idea and it's not something I have ever seen before, I know it's something I would love to receive.

The beauty bits
I think that this is the best box I have ever received beautywise. Usually you only get 3 beauty products inside each box but this month I got a bonus item, which is a set of DCER Golden Temporary Tattoos. Metallic tattoos have been very popular this summer with what feels like every blogger giving them a go. I haven't tried any yet so I'm looking forward to seeing how they look and how long they'll last for.
The product I was really excited to see when I opened up my box was the Essie nail polish in Boom Boom Room. Essie polishes are always fantastic quality and they last for a long time on the nails. This is a lovely barbie pink shade which is going to be great for my holiday next month.
Another product that's going to be ideal for my trip is the mini Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I use this cleaner every morning to remove any left over products from the night before. Having this handy travel size will mean that I don't have to my large bottle with me. However one thing I would say about this is that it's a shame the bottle is an 125ml size because it means you can't take it in your hand luggage when traveling abroad.
From My Little Beauty this month comes Sobert D'ete - Gelee Apres-Soleil (Summer Sorbet - Aftersun Body Gelee) this is a nice gel texture cooling moisturiser. It sinks into the skin quickly which is something I look for in an aftersun because there is nothing worse then feeling sticky. The Sorbet has a nice suitable sweet scent with a light floral element.

The last item in the box and possibly the main feature of the box is the Travel Organiser. This is a useful folder/ wallet for whenever you travel. Having separated sections for your cards, money and passport means it's easy to keep yourself organised and makes traveling a little less stressful. One thing that's slightly disappointing about this is that it's made from a plasticky, PVC material which I don't think will last that long and also feels a little cheap. However having said that being a water resistant material may come in handy.

National Portrait Gallery - Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon

I have been a massive fan of Audrey Hepburn for years, ever since I first watched Breakfast At Tiffany's. Audrey has been such an iconic figure since she first hit the cinema screens in her first starring role in Roman Holiday in 1953. Her work as an actress bought her beauty and talent to the world, however Audrey wasn't just an actress. In her later life Audrey did a lot of work with UNICEF becoming their Goodwill Ambassador, she gave as much back to the world as she could and worked hard taking care of children in need globally. It was right up until a year before her death in 1993 that she worked to help improve lives of others.

I was very excited when I heard about the current exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon. I bought tickets for my Mum and myself which were very reasonably priced at only £9 each.

My Mum and I visited the exhibition on Sunday and we both had a fantastic time. I don't want to give away to much about the exhibition but the photos on display are beautiful. The photos featured span Audrey's whole life from a teenager starting her ballet career, to a year before her death working with UNICEF. It's lovely to see the candid photos of her life and see how this beautiful women grew over the years.
I would say even if you aren't a fan of Audrey Hepburn but are interested in photography you will still enjoy the exhibition. I would highly recommend paying this exhibition a visit, it runs until the 18th October but I would book your tickets now because I think they will go fast.
Tickets are available to book in advance here.

Top 5 Summer Lipsticks

In summer I love wearing a pink lip! Whether it's a bold fuchsia or a soft pastel pink I think it's perfect for when your looking bronzed. Here are my top drugstore lipsticks which can be worn in bold the day and the night.

Left to right: Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick - Bashfull, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - Strawberry Shortcake, Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - Tutti Frutti, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick - Oxford Street Fuchsia, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick - Ole Flamingo!

This Soap and Glory Gloss Stick leaves your lips with a hydrated glossy finish. It has fine glitter particles which add the your lips shine without leaving you feeling like a disco ball. Being in a stick form it's easy to apply on the go so you can easily touch up throughout the day.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - Strawberry Shortcake
The Revlon Lip Butter lipsticks are lovely soft creamy lipstick which hydrate your lips whilst adding a subtle colour. The Strawberry Shortcake shade adds a frosted pink look to your lips but isn't to intense.

The Tutti Frutti shade is my favourite of all the Revlon Lip Butters. It is lightly pigmented and leaves your lips with a peachy wash of colour. This looks great with my pale skin because it adds a hint of healthy colour to my lips.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick - Oxford Street Fuchsia
This lipstick is one of the most pigmented drugstore lipsticks I have ever tried. One wash of colour gives you a deep pastel pink, it can be quite a hard shade to pull off but as long as you mix it with the right blush it looks great.

If your looking for a bold lip for summer then the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick should be top of your list. The lipstick is the most long wearing lipstick I have ever worn and will stay on your lips all day even when eating and drinking. It's a highly pigmented lipstick so you do have to be careful when applying because once its applied it's hard to correct.
